Travelers are seeing a major improvement at airports nationwide after Transportation Security Administration workers began receiving long-awaited back pay. Many employees received compensation yesterday, with most expected to be fully paid by Wednesday. Collectively, TSA workers missed more than a billion dollars in wages during recent disruptions, leaving many still recovering financially from last fall’s government shutdown. As staffing stabilizes, wait times have dropped significantly, including at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where travelers reported waits as short as three minutes.

Meanwhile, MARTA riders in metro Atlanta are being urged to prepare for an upcoming system change. The transit system is transitioning to its new “Better Breeze” payment platform, with a deadline of May 2. Current Breeze cards and the existing app will still work for now, and to ease the transition, fare gates are currently open, though riders are still expected to pay. Officials say the update is designed to modernize and simplify the rider experience.

Families across Atlanta may also find some relief when it comes to summer planning. Zoo Atlanta is offering 50 scholarships for its popular Safari Camp program. The opportunity is aimed at helping parents manage childcare needs while school is out. Applications are open now, with a deadline of April 6, and can be submitted through the Zoo Atlanta website.
