Kim Cattrall has finally addressed the “Sex and the City” reboot “And Just Like That” for the first time. While speaking to Variety, she explained why her iconic character, Samantha, isn't present in the series: “It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough.”

She explained that she “didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.” Cattrall went on to say “Everything in me went, ‘I’m done.’ And you can’t go against that feeling. I don’t ever want to be on a set and not want to be there,” she added.

While the ladies were on-screen best friends, the dynamic didn’t transfer over behind-the-scenes. When asked about her relationship with her former castmates, the 65-year-old actress noted: “I guess it’s how you define friends. I think we were colleagues. My colleagues aren’t my friends. It was professional.”

Cattrall appeared as Samantha Jones on the HBO series from 1998-2004. She also reprised the role for two “SATC” films in 2008 and 2010, but by the time talks of the third movie rolled around in 2017, she was done with the character and turned down the script. She revealed that the “series is basically the third movie. That’s how creative it was.”

She also noted that there may have been a time where she would have been interested in another movie: "I would have preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film. That didn’t happen. But also, I was ready. And this is exactly what I wished for: to be in different places playing different characters because I’m a character actress. And as difficult as it was, and as scary as it is to stand up and not be bullied by the press or the fans or whomever — to just say, I’m good. I’m on this track. It was so great working with you. I so enjoyed it, but I’m over here.”

She also set the record straight on some rumors surrounding the reboot, explaining that didn’t turn down the opportunity to appear in it.

“I was never asked to be part of the reboot,” Cattrall explained. “I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did—on social media.”

Despite not appearing in the series, Samantha – who swapped New York for London – existed off-screen through text messages to her friends. She even sent funeral flowers to Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) after Big’s (Chris Noth) death.

She admits that it’s a little strange how the creative forces behind the reboot incorporated Samantha’s presence.

“It’s odd, isn’t it? I don’t know how to feel about it. It’s so finite for me, so it doesn’t continue,” Cattrall reveals. Catrrall also shot down any future cameo or guest appearances in the reboot’s second season, adding, “That’s a no. It’s powerful to say no.” The Canadian actress has moved on to new projects, including Hulu’s “How I Met Your Father” reboot and Peacock’s “Queer as Folk.”
