Although some brick-and-mortar stores were closed last November and pandemic restrictions limited crowd sizes, Black Friday wasn’t a total bust. According to WalletHub, a personal finance website, the number of Americans who shopped online on Black Friday passed 100 million for the first time in 2020 while in-store shopping dropped by 37 percent.
After a year of decreased in-person shopping due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Friday deals are back in full force.
“Consumers need to plan their spending in advance,” Byoungho “Ellie” Jin, Ph.D, president of the International Textile and Apparel Association, told WalletHub. “I suggest making a list of purchases and start researching the price for the products now. This way, consumers will know what the real deal is or not.”
Since Black Friday marks the start of the holiday shopping season, many people may be searching for gifts when they go through deals.
Others might be looking to find a deal on a large purchase, such as a refrigerator, or something expensive like a new computer.
WalletHub broke down deals into specific categories to help shoppers match offers to their needs.
