With the kids on break and the holidays in full swing the best way to celebrate is with a timeless classic like The Nutcracker and The Atlanta Ballet.
The Executive Director of the Atlanta ballet, Tom West talks about The Nutcracker and brand new shows to be released in 2024.Tom shares that while The Nutcracker is a holiday staple, this particular version is still relatively new for The Atlanta Ballet - having shaken things up in 2018 add some extra holiday magic to the show. The show is out now through December 26th and it truly captures the spirit of the holidays with its larger than life stage props, talented dancers and the incredible friends, families and fans that come out to support the shows.
Tom shares this about the show, "We have a full Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and the production was reimagined in 2018 with these magnificent sets there is a chair that's almost 23 ft tall of the cabinet that The Nutcracker is in is three stories tall there are production projections and it's really really an incredible production that was a real reimagined for a kind of contemporary theatrical experience." Tom also shares how they've transformed the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center to set the mood right when you walk through the doors, "When you arrive at the Cobb Energy Center we have created a kind of winter wonderland we have a wall of snowflakes coming down the interior of the theater," Tom also shares there's plenty of photo opportunities with a breathtaking step and repeat and other fun surprises waiting for you and your family to enjoy.
Tom gives us a sneak peek into 2024 as The Atlanta Ballet will be releasing 2 new shows including one on the life of Coco Chanel. The show is expected to depict the iconic French fashion designer, business woman's life. Including her interesting choices in love, espionage and how she created one of the world's most recognizable and adored fashion brands.
