Class 7A

The four teams held onto their positions from last week as No. 1 Buford held on to knock off North Cobb, dropping them from No. 5 to No. 9. With the North Cobb loss, Collins Hill moved up from No. 6 to No. 5 after their 16-13 win over Brookwood. And with a 23-6 win over Rome, Carrollton moved up from No. 8 to No. 6 as they improved to 3-0. New in the 7A rankings is Kennesaw Mountain at No. 7. As they edged out North Paulding in the final seconds of a 37-36 thriller, while Westlake’s 30-20 loss to Cedar Grove knocked them out of the rankings.

Class 6A

Four of the top six teams were victorious last week including No. 1 Langston Hughes, who dominated Mays in 62-12 win, and No. 2 Lee County, who else had a convincing 41-7 win over Lithia Springs. However, there were a couple of changes in the rankings as Rome’s loss to Carrollton dropped them to No. 6 from No. 3 and Roswell moved up from No. 4 to No. 3, while Blessed Trinity (bye) moved up to No. 4 and Gainesville (23-13 over Monroe Area) moved up to No. 5.

Class 5A

Two of the 5A “Pick 6” top six teams suffered loss last week, creating some shake up in the standing. Jones County dropped from No. 1 to No 2. After they loss 42-14 to Perry and with their loss, Cartersville, who defeated Allatoona 28-20, moved into the No. 1 position in the standings. Another notable change was Creekside dropping from No. 4 to No. 6 after they fell to Dutch Fork (s.C.) 21-10. With Creekside sliding in the ranks, Ware County, who improved to 2-0 with their 41-3 win over Baldwin, moved up to No. 4 and Calhoun’s 26-21 win over Creekview helped with them moving up a spot to No. 5.

It was almost a flawless week for the top six teams in the 4A “Pick 6” as Bainbridge would be the only team of the group to suffer a loss after falling to Thomas County 35-14. With the loss, Bainbridge fell from No. 5 to No. 9 in the “In The Hunt” portion of the rankings. With the Bainbridge loss, Troup, who comes off a 23-14 win over Callaway, moved up to No. 5 from No. 6 and Starr’s Mill, who defeated Luella 28-6, moved up to the No. 6 position.

No changes took place with the top six teams of the 3A “Pick 6”. Cedar Grove remains in the No. 1 position after their 30-20 win over Westlake, while both No. 2 Carver-Columbus and No. 3 Carver-Atlanta were idle last week. No.
4 Calvary Day, No. 5 Sandy Creek and No. 6 Crisp County all picked up wins last week as they remain in their same positions in the rankings from last week.

Quite a bit of shake up in the 2A “Pick 6” rankings as three of the top six teams, ELCA, Appling County and Putnam County, all suffered week three losses. While Fitzgerald remains at No. 1, Pierce County jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 as ELCA’s loss to Calvary Day dropped them from No. 2 to No. 4 and Appling’s loss to Wayne County dropped them from No. 3 to No. 6. South Atlanta picked up 48-35 win over Gray Collegiate (SC) and jumped from the No. 7 “In The Hunt” to No. 3.

Just four of the top six 1A Division I teams were in action last week as both No. 5 Irwin County and No. 6 Bleckley County had the week off and remain in their respective positions in the standings. No. 1 Prince Avenue Christian remains at the top of the rankings after their 48-14 win over Athens Academy, however Brooks County suffered a 32-28 loss to Cook, therefore falling in the rankings from No. 2 to No 4. With Brooks County sliding in the rankings, Swainsboro moved up frpm No. 3 to No. 2 after defeating Jeff Davis 47-0 and Rabun County doubled up on Adairsville, defeating them 72-36 and moved to No. 3 from No. 4.

We have a new No. 1 in the 1A Division II as Clinch County takes over the position after the previous No. 1, Schley dropped to No. 4 after their 19-17 loss to Early County who moved up to No. 3 in the rankings. Charlton County defeated West Nassau (FL) 56-12 and moved up from No. 4 to No. 2.
Wilcox County had the week off and remains at No. 5, while Bowdon remains at No. 6 with their 35-0 win over Bremen.
