A new poll conducted by OnePoll and Nothing Bundt Cakes to release their new Oreo inspired cake, determined people love their sweets and by exactly how much. A survey conducted here in the United States polled about 2,000 people for their opinions on sweets. This survey is probably going to break a few friendships, but hey the truth will set you free.
First dessert choices might be affected based on your positivity: The study concluded people who felt they were optimistic were 77% more likely to choose sweet desserts rather than their pessimistic counter parts who were 51% more likely to choose sour desserts. Which led to cake being considered the most favored dessert across the United States with a 46% to 29% comparison.
So let's take a deeper look into the sweets people ranked as their favorite. This list are the top 10 picks for people from the United States as their favorite desserts:
1. Cake 42% said it's one of their favorite desserts.
2. Cookies 36%
3. Pie 34%
4. Donuts 34%
5. Muffins 33%
6. Cupcakes 32%
7. Pastries 24%
8. Candy 21%
9. Brownies 17%
10. Macaroons 5%
Although the survey did allow people to choose more than one dessert, I'm a little concerned to not see ice cream on this list OR S'MORES. Also it left me with more questions than answers like what is a pastry versus a donut.
