Michigan philanthropist Bill Pulte is using his massive Twitter following to help the grieving families of the deadly Texas school shooting pay for funerals.
Pulte has become something of a hero on Twitter, donating to people in need on a daily basis.
After Tuesday’s news of the Texas shooting, he turned his focus to the families in Uvalde and called upon his followers to step up.
He first received a message from a young man whose aunt, Irma Garcia, was one of the teachers killed in the massacre, and he stepped up to help the family reach their $30,000 goal – and then some – by not only donating himself, but promoting the family’s GoFundMe page.
That was Wednesday morning. And by the afternoon, Pulte had gotten involved with other campaigns for different families, including 10-year-old Tess Mata.

As of 9 p.m., Garcia’s page was approaching $90,000 of its $30,000 goal and Mata’s page had more than doubled its goal of $25,000.
According to the Free Press, other campaigns for families impacted by the shooting included:
• Irma Garcia had reached $55,326 of a $30,000 goal
• Xavier Lopez, 10, the first child identified, had reached $92,709 of a $17,000 goal
• Jayce Carmelo Luevanos, 10, had reached $25,709 of an $18,000 goal
• Los Verdes Supporter Group of Austin had raised $56,287 of $65,000
• VictimsFirst had raised $1,038,010 of $2 million (increased from a $100,000 goal) for its Texas Elementary School Shooting Victims Fund
GoFundMe created a landing page with a directory of verified fundraisers for the victims and their families.
