Ever since ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ hit the big screen in 2018, fans have been wondering what star would be next to get the biopic treatment. While it’s hard to match the star power of Freddie Mercury, the film’s writer may have found the perfect musician to focus on next. It was recently announced that a Whitney Houston biopic was on the way, and the film just shared the first look at actress Naomi Ackie as the iconic singer.

Earlier this week, Whitney Houston fans got a special treat at CinemaCon, as they got to get a sneak peak of the upcoming film, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’ Those in attendance watched a short clip that featured Naomi Ackie portraying Houston singing the film’s title track. The first glimpse of the film also included a clip of Ackie singing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ as Houston did at the 1991 Super Bowl.
Not much is known about the project at this time, but it was written by Antony McCarten and will be directed by Kasi Lemmons, according to NME. The film has been described as “very realistic, very honest story” by music mogul and film producer Clive Davis. Hopefully the film can live up to already high expectations.
