Jimmy Jam Harris is celebrating the accomplishment of a lifetime as he’s learned he’ll be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside duo partner, Terry Lewis.

LISTEN NOW: Jimmy Jam Harris details how he got the news of his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The news came as quite a shock to Harris, who didn’t even know he and Lewis were being considered as inductees until he received a call from Rock Hall professional John Sykes with the exciting news.

“I didn’t even know we were on the ballot or in consideration or anything,” he told WCCO's Chad Hartman. “That blew my mind… I’m sure I will go through a whole range of emotions and feelings… Right now, it’s just joy is what I’m feeling.”

Harris is soaking up the celebratory moments while he can as he joked his wife will have him back in every day life and doing chores sooner rather than later.

“When that kind of thing happens, there’s a moment and it’s great… and then it’s back to, ‘OK, so and so has got to go here, did you pay this?’ Back to family, normal life,” he laughed saying his wife is proud of him but will surely keep his head from getting stuck in the clouds.

“Today she’s proud of me and that’ll last for a day and then it’ll be back to taking the trash out and whatever my normal duties are.”

Humble as can be, it’s no surprise Harris is most proud of the fact he made it into the Hall as part of a team with his longtime duo partner, Terry Lewis.

Harris and Lewis join other inductees Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Judas Priest, Harry Belafonte, and Elizabeth Cotton.

“The great thing about us being on there, is that it’s the two of us,” Harris said with pride. “It’s Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, we’re a team and I love that! That’s the best part about it is being a team and sharing this together. I couldn’t be more proud.”

The 2022 inductees will be formally recognized on November 5 at L.A.'s Microsoft Theater.
