PITTSBURGH (100.7 Star) — Many of us have heard the old adage about black cats being bad luck.
If one crosses your path, it’s supposed to represent imminent misfortune.
But as it turns out, many cultures consider the presence of a black cat to be a bellwether for good fortune.
The Best Friends Animal Society has dug up some Halloween-centric nuggets that might make you a little less “stitious” when it comes to black cats.

And in Scotland, the arrival of a black cat supposedly means that “prosperity” is coming your way.
Interestingly enough, both sailors and fishermen’s wives viewed black cats as a symbol of good luck.

And since it’s actually Halloween, maybe it’s the right time to reappropriate the old superstition and declare all black cats as good luck forever.
In a pandemic, it might be time to look in unlikely directions for a turning in fortune anyway...
