"Call Me by Your Name" actor Armie Hammer is being investigated by the LAPD sex crimes detectives after a 24-year-old woman has come forward about the actor.
“We can confirm that Armie Hammer is the main suspect in an alleged sexual assault investigation that was initiated Feb. 3 of this year,” an LAPD spokesperson confirmed to Variety and the LA Times.
The woman, named Effie, who is 24-years-old and lives in Europe, came forward Thursday with her attorney Gloria Allred, alleging she had been raped and sexually assaulted by the actor.
During the press conference, Effie alleged that on April 24, 2017 Hammer violently raped her for over four hours in Los Angeles. “...During which he repeatedly slapped my head against a wall bruising my face. He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent," she went on to say, according to the outlet.
Effie says she met the actor when she was 20 on Facebook and they had an on-and-off again relationship for four years.
“I tried to get away, but he wouldn’t let me. I thought that he was going to kill me,” Effie said, according to the LA Times.
Hammer, through his lawyer Andrew Brettler, has denied the allegations to media outlets saying that all the sexual encounters Hammer has had with everyone were "completely consensual..." Hammer’s attorney issued a statement saying Effie’s own correspondence with Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations – noting that as early as last July, she sent him graphic, sexual texts.
“He would often test my devotion to him,” Effie said, adding that Hammer became increasingly violent. “He abused me mentally, emotionally and sexually."
Allred did not address whether her client, Effie, is behind the HouseofEffie Instagram account which apparently accused Hammer of "nonconsensual sexual behavior," according to the LA Times.
Most recently, Vanity Fair did a piece on Hammer and noted a series of allegations and scandals that dived into his family history.
