Living Better in San Diego - The Red Cross encourages blood donations this summer

On holiday weeks, the Red Cross sees a big decline - over 20% - in blood and platelet donations, meaning the availability of blood products for hospital patients also declines. If you’re an eligible blood donor, you can help ensure that blood is ready when needed by making a life-saving appointment to give blood in the next few weeks. Dana Simmons, Regional Communications Manager for the American Red Cross Southern California Region, discusses the critical need for blood donors during the summer months.
