
Happy Black History Month! Looking for ways to celebrate Black History month? Here are a few ways you can celebrate in San Diego:
Go see The Black Iris Project, an Emmy Award-winning, New York City based ballet created by San Diego native and Broadway Veteran Jeremy McQueen. The Black Iris Project debuts at the Balboa Theater on February 8th. Attendees are encouraged to wear all-black in honor of Black lives and Black History Month.
Head to the San Diego History Center on February 11th for Black History Month Family Day. From 11am-4pm, families are invited to come out and learn about the African-American history of San Diego through a pop-up exhibit called Part of the Patchwork: Reflection of African-American Life in the History Center Archives.
This all ages events will also have crafts and interactive activities. Admission is free with a suggested $10 donation.

Black Com!x Day at WorldBeat Cultural Center! This event, dubbed the "Black History Comic Con," celebrates black artists and creators from Marvel, DC & Black Owned. Come meet these amazing artists on February 11 & 12 at WorldBeat Cultural Center. Get more info to this free even here.
OURstory the Black History Musical Experience is playing at the Balboa Theater on February 13. This musical promises to take you on a "journey through time where you will learn about the amazing stories not taught in schools." Tickets start at $25.
