NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Broadway actor Nick Cordero has woken up after being in a coronavirus-related medically-induced coma for weeks, his wife Amanda Kloots said Tuesday evening.

Kloots confirmed the news in a joyful video posted to her Instagram stories on Tuesday.

“Guys, we might have to change our hashtag to Code Rocky, because Nick, dada, is awake!” Kloots said in the video, while holding their 11-month-old son Elvis.

Cordero is “so weak right now that even opening his eyes closing his eyes takes all of his energy,” Kloots noted. “But he is awake,” she added.

The Tony-nominated actor has been hospitalized since March due to COVID-19-related complications. In April, he had his right leg amputated because clotting in the area was causing internal bleeding in his intestines, Kloots said.

Cordero’s supporters have been using the hashtag #WakeUpNick to support the actor during his hospitalization.

“Code Rocky” is a phrase a Massachusetts hospital coined to indicate that a COVID-19 patient has recovered and can return home.
