The Padres were unable to come away with their third consecutive series win, as they dropped Wednesday's rubber match to the Mariners 4-3. Yu Darvish surrendered an RBI-double to Luke Raley in the 2nd inning, and then the big blow, which was a 3-run home run to Eugenio Suarez in the 4th. It was Suarez's second 3-run homer in as many days. The Padres scored two runs in the 6th inning on an RBI-single from Gavin Sheets and on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded by Jake Cronenworth. The Friars made things interesting in the 9th inning, when Fernando Tatis brought the Padres within a run with an RBI-double, that also put the tying run in scoring position with two outs. But Ramon Laureano was unable to bring Tatis home, and grounded out to end the game. The Padres now travel to Minnesota for a weekend series against the Twins.
