KYLE, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Kyle Police say they've arrested the driver of an 18-wheeler involved in a deadly crash on Interstate 35 Thursday morning.
Police say the crash happened just before 5 a.m. Thursday morning, in the northbound lanes of the interstate at the 217 mile marker. An 18-wheeler driven by Jose Luis Juarez of Laredo struck a box truck and a tow truck that were stationary on the right shoulder of the mainlanes. Both the tow truck driver and the box truck driver were outside of their vehicles when the crash occurred. The box truck driver was injured and taken to a nearby hospital; police say the driver of the tow truck, 22-year old Tristen Cother, was killed on impact.
Juarez fled the scene following the crash and was subsequently apprehended with the help of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say Juarez is now in custody and has been charged with Accident Involving Death.
The northbound interstate mainlanes, which were closed for much of the morning, has re-opened to traffic.
