AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Another piece of old Austin is closing its doors, with Shady Grove calling it quits after 28 years on Barton Springs Road.
Rusty Zagst confirmed the news in a post on the restaurant's website, with the doors closing for good Monday. "Though my heart is heavy, it is full of gratitude and pride for what has truly been a magical journey of 28 years. It's been a privilege to serve this city we love so much. I am thankful for all our wonderful customers for sharing their lives and experiences with us as together we've watched our town grow into the big city," Zagst wrote.
The restaurant joins other Austin originals, including the Lake Austin Boulevard location of Magnolia Cafe and Threadgill's, that have closed their doors during the coronavirus pandemic.
No immediate plans have been revealed for the spot near Zilker Park.
