AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The Texas State Capitol will re-open to the public on January 4, state leaders announced Monday.
Gov. Greg Abbott, along with Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, said in a statement that the Texas capitol would re-open "at a time when many state capitols, including the U.S. Capitol, are closed."
Officials said a number of health and safety protocols have been put into place to allow for the Capitol's re-opening, while maintaining a safe environment for visitors, lawmakers, and staff.
Preparations continue for the upcoming legislative session, with each chamber set to vote upon their respective rules and protocols at the opening of the session on January 12.
