WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- A second human case of West Nile Virus has been identified in Williamson County, officials announced Thursday.
The person is in their 70s and resides in the central part of the county, the Williamson County and Cities Health District said.
So far, 13 positive mosquito trap samples have been reported. According to officials, that exceeds the prior record in a single season. The latest positive trap report comes from the Granger area.
Officials recommend three steps to protect yourself:
- Drain standing water in flowerpots, pet dishes, or clogged gutters so mosquitoes do not have a place to breed and treat water that cannot be drained.
- Defend by using an EPA-approved insect repellent, especially at dusk and dawn.
- Dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors.
