Beloved singer and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, has died at the age of 80. According to an official statement released by the family, Parton died peacefully Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee.
An announcement also came via Instagram on Dolly's official account, with her nephew, Bryan Seaver, delivering the news.
Parton’s health made headlines in 2025, as she announced that she would not be able to perform at her December residency at Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she shared at the time. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!"
Parton is one of the most successful Country artists in history, with 25 number-one singles, and 41 Top 10 country albums. Dolly also sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
In 2023, Dolly was a guest on the Superstar Power Hour with Audacy's Katie Neal, talking about her project, Rockstar, in which she teamed with an all-star list of collaborators on some of her favorite Rock tracks to go with her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
“I just want people to really enjoy this Rock album [and] to say it’s really some good music and that I did OK singing it… I really busted a gut tryin’,” Dolly told Katie. “It was fun for me. It was a challenge, but it was fun to get to sing these songs. I usually sing so many of my own songs, it’s great to get to sing something else like some classic songs.”
Dolly’s Rockstar album was her 49th studio project and when asked what she has planned for #50 she joked, “If i get put in the R&B Hall of Fame, I’ll have to do an R&B album! I wish I would because I love R&B.”
