APD: Arrest made after deadly pileup crash in North Austin

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police say they've made an arrest in a deadly crash involving 17 vehicles along southbound Interstate 35 in North Austin late Thursday night.

According to APD, 37-year old Solomun Weldekeal Araya has been charged with five counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. He was taken into custody and is currently in the Travis County Jail.

Five people were killed and 11 others were injured in the crash, which happened just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday night in the southbound mainlanes of I-35 just north of Parmer Lane.
