AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Authorities are investigating three deaths in the past 24 hours across the city.

Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to a home near the Slaughter Creek Acres neighborhood off of Mankato Drive in far south Austin. Police say a call came in just before 5 p.m. reporting an injured man; when officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim with "obvious signs of trauma."

Despite life-saving efforts from officers and EMS medics, the victim - described as a male in his 20s - was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police had no details on a suspect, but did believe it was an isolated incident.

Early Wednesday morning, officers also responded to a deadly shooting in the downtown Sixth Street entertainment district. Officers working in the area heard gunshots in the area of Sixth and Trinity around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers located the victim, who had obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced deceased on the scene a few minutes later.

Police say a person of interest was detained in connection with the incident.

Authorities are also investigating after a body was found on the side of the road in southeast Austin Wednesday morning.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the body was found around 7:30 a.m. in a ditch off of FM 973 near Platt Lane. Medics said the body could have been the result of a traffic fatality.
