AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a weekend shooting on the city's north side Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 7100 block of the North Interstate 35 southbound frontage road just after 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning, following a 911 call reporting shots fired. When officers arrived, they found 23-year old Rafael Solorzano Sanchez inside a white Ford SUV that had crashed into a chain-link fence.

Officers removed Solorzano from his vehicle and attempted to provide medical aid; he was later transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 6:18 a.m.

Police say investigators spoke with witnesses who reported a Black male suspect, pictured above, who they saw shooting into the victim's vehicle as it traveled through the parking lot. The suspect was last seen fleeing eastbound on foot.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to call APD's Homicide tip line at 512-974-8477, or Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. Information leading to an arrest in the case may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
