AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The first full day of Spring may bring not only spring-like temperatures, but also a chance of spring-like thunderstorms and potential severe weather to the Austin area.
Sunday afternoon, the Storm Prediction Center shifted its severe weather outlook for Monday further to the south and west, now encompassing all of the Austin metro counties in an "enhanced" risk zone - the third of five levels.
The western Hill Country, south to San Antonio, are in a "slight" risk level - a 2 out of 5 on the scale.
After a round of possible early morning showers and thunderstorms, a line of stronger, potentially severe storms is expected to develop ahead of a cold front that's expected to move through the area late Monday. Hail, strong winds, and tornadoes are the possible risks with these storms, which are expected to develop late Monday afternoon into the evening hours.
Once the cold front pushes through, the rest of the week is expected to be relatively dry, gradually warming to above normal temperatures by the end of the week.
