Texas Economist Ray Perryman's firm, the Perryman Group, has just released its 40th "Big Forecast" of the Texas economy.

Dr. Perryman says this comprehensive report reflects data surrounding the pandemic, and the recovery to date.

Perryman says he expects Texas will have a "good solid recovery from the pandemic, but obviously a lot of what we're doing in the current year will be making up what we lost during 2020."

Perryman continues "we still have a long way to go, but over the next five years we see overall growth of 4.5 percent in Gross Product which is a very strong number and employment growth of about 2.4 percent which translates into an average of over 300,000 jobs a year."

Perryman says the report has great detail in terms of the industrial, technologies, and oil and gas sectors. He says the bottom line is, "the Texas economy is looking strong coming out of the pandemic. The challenge now is to try and get back to normal as soon as we can with as little disruption as possible."
