AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- It was a deadly morning on Austin roadways, with two fatal collisions early Friday killing two people and snarling traffic on two key thoroughfares.
The first crash happened around 1:45 a.m. along U.S. Highway 290 in western Travis County, near Circle Drive. A motorcyclist crashed with a car; that motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
A second crash happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 just north of Slaughter Lane around 2:45 a.m. According to Austin Police, the crash involved an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck.
One of the occupants of the pickup was pronounced deceased on the scene. It's not clear if it was the driver or a passenger.
Authorities are continuing to investigate both incidents.
