AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- State officials are taking input on the agency's plans for Interstate 35 from north Austin to Round Rock.
Texas Department of Transportation officials opened a public hearing Monday detailing the I-35 Capital Express North project, which will stretch from U.S. Highway 290 East all the way to State Highway 45 North.
The project, as currently proposed, calls for adding one non-tolled high-occupancy vehicle managed lane in each direction between US 290 and SH 45. The plan also calls for reconstructing a number of bridges, improving biking and walking paths, and adding a "diverging diamond" intersection at Wells Branch Parkway.
According to the plan, construction on the $400 million project is expected to start in 2022 and be completed in 2027.
