Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert plans to appeal a $5,000 fine he received for failing to walk through a metal detector before entering the US House chamber.
Metal detectors were added after last month's insurrection at the US Capitol as part increased security to protect lawmakers.
Gohmert and another Republican lawmaker bypassed the metal detectors on Friday and were immediately fined $5,000.
The fine jumps to $10,000 every additional offense, and the fine will be deducted from paychecks.
