It's another holiday weekend of flight frustration as the airline industry struggles to keep up with demand. The union that represents American Airlines pilots continues to blame the company for most of the issues.
Most can understand how bad weather at one airport can have a cascading effect and create problems. But, with yet another weekend of cancellations and delays, the Allied Pilots Association said it is frustrated with the way the Fort Worth-based airline is adding to the problem.
"National keeps pushing us and pushing us and building schedules with very little buffer so any little drop of rain happens or anomaly and you're looking at a canceled or a very delayed flight," said Dennis Tajer with APA. "It's not fair on our passengers who count on us."
Tajer said cancellations due to staffing issues amount to a breached contract between the carrier and passengers. American Airlines has not returned our request for comment.
