The stage at Bellaire High School's graduation will be a little more full than most at the end of the school year, because for the first time in the Houston Independent School District's history, the school will have NINE valedictorians.
The nine valedictorians, Alkiviades Boukas, Daniel Chen, Evie Tsen-Ying Kao, Angela Ling, Miles Mackenzie, Wenson Tsiah-Hao Tang, Christopher Zhou, and twin sisters Annie and Shirley Zhu, all achieved a grade point average of 5.0.
In the Houston ISD, a "weighted" GPA includes courses considered more "rigorous" than normal, and allows students to achieve a grade higher than the standard 4.0.
According to ABC 13, the valedictorians all intend to attend a variety of universities:
-Alkiviades Boukas: University of Texas at Austin, Physics
-Daniel Chen: Carnegie Mellon University, Information Systems
-Evie Tsen-Ying Kao: University of Texas at Austin, Business/Finance
-Angela Ling: Undecided, Business or Biology
-Miles Mackenzie: University of Texas at Austin, Physics
-Wenson Tsiah-Hao Tang: Carnegie Mellon University, Electrical and Computer Engineering
