A new COVID test won't just tell you whether you have the virus, it will tell you which variant you're infected with. It's called CoVarScan.
The test was developed by researchers at UT Southwestern to detect specific variants of the coronavirus in as little as four hours. It can also detect new variants and help track which strains of the virus are emerging where.
The big goal is to help doctors tailor treatment based on which variant a patient has.
