DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - During his weekly visit with K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan on Monday, Dallas Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones displayed a good amount of optimism that the Cowboys will be getting some reinforcements back in time for their matchup with the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

Jones said, "barring a surprise," defensive linemen Randy Gregory and Neville Gallimore will return this weekend.

"They've had a great couple weeks and they'll take another step this week (by taking part in) full practices. Unless there's a setback, which we certainly don't expect, we're preparing them to play in the game," Jones said.

Jones' comments come just a few days after his father expressed similar optimism on 105.3 The Fan about Gregory and Gallimore's returns.

Gallimore has not played yet this season due to an elbow injury he suffered during the preseason, forcing rookie Osa Odighizuwa into significant action. The team started his 21-day practice window last week, but will still need to activate him off of injured reserve before he can play Sunday.

Gregory, meanwhile, was one of the Cowboys' top players on defense when he went down with a calf injury in practice on Nov. 11, sitting with five sacks and 12 quarterback hits in his seven games. Dallas has yet to start his 21-day practice window, but it appears as if it's coming this week.

As for head coach Mike McCarthy who missed last week's game against the Saints due to a bout with COVID-19, Jones said McCarthy should be able to come out of the Reserve/COVID-19 protocol on Thursday.

"He's doing all his work and getting the team prepared (remotely). I know he'd love to be there, hands-on. But at the same time, he does a great job Zooming in and getting his staff prepared. ... He'll do a good job and be ready to get back in the building," Jones said of McCarthy. "I've talked to him pretty much every day and he's just dying to get his hands on the team. ... He's feeling really good. He's getting through it in a good way. He's done all the right things with vaccinations and things like that. ... He's been able to work right through it."
