DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Bulls signed Goran Dragic after there was heavy speculation that the Dallas Mavericks would sign him following the loss of Jalen Brunson to the Knicks, and because of his close friendship with Slovenia national team backcourt mate Luka Doncic.
In the immediate aftermath of Dragic joining Chicago, we didn't get an explanation as to why he didn't end up in Dallas. That was, until Wednesday.
In an interview with Slovenian newspaper Vecer, as translated by Matej Sportinfo, Dragic says that he was in talks to sign with Dallas, but the team only wanted him to play one out of every five games and he wasn't ready to "just sit on the bench in a cheerleading role."
The Mavs are short on ball handlers, so the idea that the Mavs would tell Dragic he wouldn't see any minutes in Dallas is dumbfounding, to say the least.
