Corey Taylor has announced a new concert to promote his upcoming debut solo album CMFT, loaded with pyrotechnics, professional lights, a dance troupe and an empty stadium.
He tells Variety a dad joke inspired the live music event. "My guitarist Christian Martucci and I had this idea for a concert at The Forum based on a horrible dad joke — like, you’re either ‘Forum or Against ‘Em’ — and we thought it was the funniest thing in the world.”
“It’s the only thing that I’ve ever been good at is entertaining an audience, and it sucks not being able to do it,” Taylor begrudged to the publication. “It really does. There’s no intellectual way to say it.”
CMFT is set to release Friday. He released the single “Culture Head,” examining the negative effect of “Cancel Culture” earlier this week.
“It’s just so rampant and so ferocious and I don’t, for the first time in my life, see a way out,” he told NME in a recent interview. “It’s a case of the medicine not fitting the illness.”
