In light of the overwhelming surge of new COVID-19 cases, Florida has announced it will ban alcohol consumption in its bars.
"Effective immediately, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is suspending on premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide," the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation tweeted.

Just a week ago some experts predicted that Florida could be a hotspot for the virus.
Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis announced plans to reopen schools in August.DeSantis believes the spike in numbers is due to increased testing and doesn't have plans to roll back the opening of the state.
"As you're testing more, you're going to find more cases," DeSantis said, according to NPR. "We're doing 30,000-plus tests a day."
