Old Navy Will Pay Employees to Work at Election Polls

Old Navy is hoping to help this November's voting process run a little more smoothly by paying its employees to work at the polls on Election Day.

The company announced on Tuesday that it would be pairing with Power to the Polls, an organization that recruits "poll workers to ensure a safe, fair election for all voters."

The company aims to offer paid time off to 50,000 employees should they choose to work at the polls on Election Day.

Meanwhile, parent company Gap Inc. is offering employees up to three hours of paid time off so that they have the opportunity to leave their shifts to go vote. Old Navy will be doing the same.

The company explained that as poll worker shortages are expected this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, waits at polling places will likely be much longer with a shortage of staff to help out.

"Power the Polls will be a part of the solution by addressing the need for low-risk and diverse poll workers who can staff in-person voting locations during early voting and on Election day," the organization explains on its website.

Poll workers will be given PPE and proper training as well as monetary reimbursement for their time.
