Vera Lynn, the World War II British singer who provided the soundtrack for the Allied war efforts, has died at the age of 103.

Fox News reported the singer's family confirmed the news of Lynn's death.

"The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of Britain's best-loved entertainers at the age of 103," the singer's family said. "Dame Vera Lynn, who lived in Ditchling, East Sussex, passed away earlier today, 18 June 2020, surrounded by her close family."

The singer was known for her songs "The White Cliffs of Dover" and "We'll Meet Again." That song served as the melody in the ending montage of Stanley Kubrick's movie, "Dr. Strangelove."

People have described the famous singer as the "forces sweetheart." Her songs reached millions as she provided optimism to both troops and civilians back at home during World War II.

The late 103-year-old spent her time during the war performing in hospitals, entertaining the troops, and traveling to India and Burma.
