GLENNIE, MICH. (WWJ) -- After being charged with the murder of a 2-year-old girl, a Michigan man asked a judge to release him from jail so he could start his new job.

According to Michigan State Police, troopers were called to a hospital in Alpena on Friday, July 22, when the young girl was brought in and pronounced dead.

WDIV reports that Investigators located the child’s home and identified Aaron Joseph Trout, 31, of Glennie, as the suspect. He was taken into custody in Alcona County.

At his arraignment on Monday, Trout appeared virtually in 81st District Court from the Iosco County Jail.

According to the Alpena News, he repeatedly told the judge that he needed to get out of jail because he had just secured a job and was supposed to start work on Wednesday.

The judge denied Trout’s request for a bond, citing the seriousness of the alleged crime as a reason to keep him incarcerated. It was also noted that Trout had an assaultive criminal history as well as a history of substance abuse, resisting and assaulting police and not showing up for court appearances.

Trout is scheduled to return to court at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
