PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID-19.
He received the positive result on Tuesday during a routine test, and he is currently in isolation at home.
The governor said he does not have any symptoms, and he is feeling well. First Lady Frances Wolf is quarantining at home while she waits for her test result.
“I am continuing to serve the commonwealth and performing all of my duties remotely, as many are doing during the pandemic,” the governor said in a statement. “As this virus rages, my positive test is a reminder that no one is immune from COVID.”
Earlier this week, Wolf hinted that he may be issuing increased coronavirus restrictions, like more limits on gathering sizes. He was supposed to meet with Senate Democrats Wednesday, but the meeting was canceled for reasons unknown at the time.
There is no word yet if Wolf will announce any other restrictions later this week.
As of Wednesday, the state announced an additional 8,703 cases of COVID-19, totaling 445,317 since the start of the pandemic. In all, 11,762 Pennsylvanians have died.
