The Mets picked up a win in San Francisco on Wednesday, but they also fell to .500 (and below .500, temporarily) after losing the first two games of the series. It wasn't a great series, then, and it probably wasn't one that warranted too much bragging or mocking from the Mets or their fan base.

But the Mets could have won the series in a convincing sweep, winning each game by double digits and completely stymying the Giants offense, and it still wouldn't have warranted the mockery that pitcher Noah Syndergaard posted to his Instagram story. Though he eventually deleted it, screen grabs of the story were captured, and the overall interpretation of what Syndergaard had uploaded was that he had posted a very insensitive picture of an unsuspecting homeless person on the street in San Francisco.

Many of the comments and quote tweets that followed shared the sentiments of Bradford William Davis, a former New York Daily News columnist and current investigative reporter with Insider. ESPN's Clinton Yates showed his shock by simply commenting, "wow," while others went more in depth. FanSided editorial director Josh Hill, for instance, gave his take:

"...there’s nothing funny about what Syndergaard posted nor his inability to stop whatever weird and problematic behavior he’s using his social media accounts for. He’s had a lot of time on his hands, having missed the entire season to this point with an injury and then a failed rehab stint, which would seemingly suggest he has the time to ponder how to not use his position of influence and power in such mind-bogglingly stupid ways."

Syndergaard also came under fire earlier this summer for using the news of Trevor Bauer's assault allegation to continue the pitchers' beef from months prior.

Earlier this month, Syndergaard had another polarizing social media post in which he blasted MLB and ESPN for what he saw as a "dumb f---ing idea" to schedule a night game against the Dodgers immediately before their series with the Giants began the next day.
