We’ve all seen DK Metcalf with his shirt off. It’s astounding.
Even Aaron Donald would say this looks photoshopped. This is the body of a Greek God. Yet, as we learned from his appearance on Kevin Garnett’s new Showtime series “Certified,” Metcalf eats like a child with most of his sustenance coming from Skittles (a favorite of his former Seahawks teammate, Marshawn Lynch) and Life Savers gummies.
Metcalf’s candy habit is much more than a guilty pleasure. It’s a full-on addiction. We’re talking 3-4 bags a day. Forget cheat days. This man is living a cheat life.
Garnett was predictably flabbergasted by the revelation, stunned to hear that one of the most physically fit athletes, not just in football but all of professional sports (Metcalf’s body fat was calculated at an unheard-of 1.6 percent before the draft), grubs like a teenager at the local cineplex.
The wide receiver’s diet—he claims to eat one meal a day (a late dinner between 8-9 PM)—doesn’t seem sustainable, though when you burn as many calories as Metcalf does, you can eat sweets by the bagful and still look like the Incredible Hulk. As pointed out by Garnett, Metcalf (who you may remember attempted to qualify for the Olympics last summer) may have unwittingly stumbled into an entrepreneurial opportunity.
“It’s safe to say we’re going to see a DK gummy at some point, right?” asked the Celtics great, who saw his No. 5 raised to the TD Garden rafters earlier this month.
Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Metcalf has been the subject of recent trade rumblings amid the Seahawks’ offseason teardown, trading Russell Wilson to Denver while releasing All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, now of the Los Angeles Rams.
