The WNBA season is right around the corner, and all eyes—no surprise—are on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Clark isn’t just the biggest name in women’s sports; she might be the biggest name in sports, period. And with the Fever expected to take a major leap this season, the hype is real.
After a first-round playoff exit, Indiana’s front office got to work, putting together a roster built to contend for a championship in 2025.
In a three-team trade, the Fever landed sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham and the 19th overall pick in the 2025 draft from the Phoenix Mercury. Cunningham’s ability to stretch the floor adds another playmaking threat alongside Clark. But the biggest splash came with the signing of six-time All-Star DeWanna Bonner, who joins after five seasons with the Connecticut Sun. A two-way force, Bonner already has a strong connection with new Fever head coach Stephanie White, who also came over from Connecticut.
Indiana didn’t stop there, adding three-time WNBA champion Natasha Howard, bringing defensive versatility and championship pedigree to a core that already includes Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
With all these offseason moves, it’s no surprise that Indiana’s title odds have been slashed. They opened at +2500 but now sit at +475—the fourth-shortest in the league—trailing only the Liberty (+220), Aces (+220), and Lynx (+350).
The betting markets are all over the Fever. They lead all teams by an extremely wide margin in both ticket count (58.7%) and total money wagered (81.0%). To put that into perspective, the next closest team, the Las Vegas Aces, holds just 5.9% of tickets and 3.0% of the handle.
For comparison, with 25 games left in the NBA season, the title-favorite Celtics lead the ticket count at 14.0%, followed by the Lakers (13.3%) and Nuggets (11.7%). The handle splits are similarly spread out, with the Nuggets (17.6%), Celtics (15.7%), and Lakers (11.9%) leading the way.
It’s rare to see one team dominate the betting action like Indiana is, but that’s the Caitlin Clark effect. The Fever aren’t just a popular pick—they’re the biggest liability in the WNBA title market.
