As the Raiders prepared for Sunday's opener in Denver, DE Chandler Jones was missing from practice at Raiders HQ one day after unleashing a series of posts on Instagram claiming he doesn't want to play for head coach Josh McDaniels or GM Dave Ziegler.
McDaniels addressed the media and would only say "it's a personal situation and private matter. We have dealt with it and I am not going to talk about it." McDaniels said it's "day to day" with Jones.
It appeared that Jones was upset that the team didn't allow him to work out at Raiders HQ when he posted: "It's a shame that I am a top athlete with 112 sacks in the NFL and I have to go to a local gym to work out during the season for no apparent reason this is wild to me..."
Jones took down the post later. Jones had 4 1/2 sacks last season, in his first year with the Raiders. He had 10 1/2 sacks in 2021 with Arizona and a high of 19 sacks with the Cardinals in 2019. He was expected to be the perfect bookend to Maxx Crosby on the other side of the defensive alignment.
