The Las Vegas Aces still have a chip on their shoulder from the past season and the heated WNBA Finals. They let off some steam on Monday night at the team's second consecutive championship parade and rally on the Las Vegas Strip.
Reserve guard Sydney Colson continued the post-Finals fireworks by adding more fuel to the fire. She talked about how the New York Liberty's guard Sabrina Ionescu motioned that they put the Aces "to sleep" after Game 3. She said the coaches put that in the Aces pre-game video before Game 4 - a game eventually won by the shorthanded Aces. Colston called the video "cinematic" and said the Liberty "done pissed us off." She said Las Vegas defended the final play with 8.8 seconds remaining on the clock. "And we celebrated like the --- champs we are."
A lot of trash talk continued after the series is over. The Liberty players took exception to Kelsey Plum’s criticism of their team following the Finals. She said they are "really good individual players but they don’t care about each other." Jonquil Jones of the Liberty countered “I think its easy to kick people when they’re down and you’re up, and honestly to me, it felt classless." At Monday's celebration Plum said "we're gonna keep coming back, and everyone hates it."
A'ja Wilson was introduced with fans chanting M-V-P and added, "We got the ring and that's all that matters. We're champs." And she called Las Vegas fans "the best fans in the world. Then she added "we're doing it again."
