UNLV true freshman quarterback Cameron Friel was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
He is the first Rebels' player to earn the conference honor, which debuted this season. Friel led UNLV to its first victory of the season, 31-17, at New Mexico on Saturday.
The Hawai’i native completed 20-of-33 attempts for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Lobos.
Friel’s 63.8 completion percentage in 2021 is on track to break Omar Clayton’s school single-season record by a UNLV freshman (61.1 in 2007).
