UNLV running back Charles Williams has been named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.

The "Chuck Wagon" led the Rebels to a 27-13 Saturday win over Hawai’i by finishing with 266 net yards rushing, which tied for the second most in school history and marked the third-best total in the nation this season. He scored all three of his team’s touchdowns against the Rainbow Warriors, including a 47-yard scamper with under two minutes remaining to seal the victory.

Williams’ big day included breaking Ickey Woods’ 34-year-old school record for carries in a game with 38. Woods carried the ball 37 times in two different games in 1987 en route to winning the NCAA rushing title.

Williams took over the MW rushing lead with 1,089 yards through 10 games and sports a league-leading 13 touchdowns this fall. He is only the fourth player in Mountain West history to reach the 4,000-yard rushing mark in a career (4,029).

The Super Senior is the first UNLV running back to win the league honor since Tim Cornett on November, 15, 2010, and the first to win it outright since “Jersey” Joe Haro in 2001.
