Day one of NHL free agency turned out to be a busy one for the Vegas Golden Knights.

As reported, VGK brought back veteran defenseman Alec Martinez on a three-year contract with an average annual value of $5.25 million.

The team was quick to replace Marc-Andre Fleury with some veteran goaltender help with former Winnipeg netminder Laurent Brossoit. He first played in the league in 2014 with Edmonton. His deal is two years for $4.65 million.

Another veteran signing arrived Wednesday morning, with a one-year deal for winger Sven Bartschi. The 28-year-old has bounced around the league, with time in Calgary and Vancouver. He spent last season with Utica of the AHL.

The Golden Knights also made a trade, sending Nic Holden to Ottawa in exchange for forward Evgenii Dadonov. Dadonov is under contract for two years at $5 million per season. He scored 13 goals and had seven assists in his first season with the Senators.

Gage Quinney also reupped with VGK on a one-year contract. Quinney was the first Las Vegas born player to officially suit up for his hometown team in February 2020.
