DraftKings Week 3 NCAAF DFS slate is filled with opportunities to find value and maximize your lineups. In order to pay up for studs, you’ll need some value plays to include. Below are three standout DFS picks that could provide great returns in Week 3 action.
QB: Pittsburgh Eli Holstein ($7,300) vs. West Virginia
Everyone is going to play Pitt RB Desmond Reid ($6,400), who has absolutely lit his opponents up so far, registering 33.6 and then 43.6 DraftKings points. However, a tournament pivot (or even a stacking addition due to Reid’s pass-catching upside) is QB Eli Holstein, who is priced as the QB33 despite having QB4 production so far.
After posting 27.54 and then 29.68 DraftKings points against Kent State and Cincinnati, he will get a matchup against a West Virginia defense that just allowed 306 passing yards to an FCS Albany offense last week. Registering 40 and then 35 pass attempts in his first two games, Holstein also had 10 carries for 36 yards last week, so there’s some dual threat upside there as well. All-in-all, this is my favorite QB value on the main slate by a huge margin.
RB: South Carolina RB Raheim Sanders ($4,900) vs. LSU
Checking in with the RB35 price with RB23 production, South Carolina RB Raheim Sanders is a great bargain against LSU this week. As the clear lead back for the Gamecocks, the Arkansas transfer has found the endzone in back-to-back weeks, taking 24 carries for 88 yards and a score in Week 1 against Old Dominion and then 13 carries for 54 yards and a score last week against Kentucky.
Sanders is the clear bellcow back on South Carolina right now; no other running back has more than five carries and he has 37. LSU’s defense has not looked good this season and just allowed 150 rushing yards to FCS opponent Nicholls State last season, including a huge outing from running back Collin Guggenheim, who racked up 25 carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
WR: Purdue WR Max Klare ($3,400) vs. Notre Dame
This is simply a misprice. Not only are there 155 higher-priced WR/TE’s on the main slate at DraftKings, but the tight end Klare is the 5th-highest priced Purdue WR/TE despite being the No. 1 option in the passing attack. Sure, Purdue has only played one game this season (49-0 win over Indiana State) and sure, Notre Dame is a tough opponent that’s never fun to roster any DFS player against, but Klare caught all five of his targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in that first game and is the team’s top returning pass-catcher. He led Purdue in catches and tied teammate Jahmal Edrine in targets in that first contest and will likely be heavily leaned on against the Fighting Irish.
OC Graham Harrell used Klare in the slot for 15 snaps and created mismatches against Indiana State. Most of the tight end’s production came early in the game when the game script made sense to pass the football, but with this game against ND expected to be tight, I would expect a full game of volume to be in his favor. This is a no-brainer play for me this week as the salary savings and upside combo are undeniable.
