With so much that divides the general public and the media, there is one thing that should unite us all: the memory and legacy of the late "Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin.
Franklin, 76, passed away on Thursday morning after weeklong reports that she was gravely ill in her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the first woman ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was a winner of 18 Grammy awards.
On Thursday night, she was honored before the Washington Redskins-New York Jets game with a moment of silence. This was a view of the video boards and home fans:

Elsewhere in sports, the Yankees hosted the Rays in afternoon baseball and played her iconic rendition of R-E-S-P-E-C-T from "Blues Brothers" on the video boards during the sixth inning.
