Thought you were only going to get one first round pick didn't you?
Well, happy
NFL Draft day! The Washington Redskins came back into the first round late Thursday night and selected Mississippi State DE
Montez Sweat with the No. 26 overall pick. (Washington sent the Indianapolis Colts this year's second-round pick (No. 46) and a 2020 second-round pick, moving up 20 spots to bolster the pass rush.)
If you don't know anything else about Sweat as a player, know this: He is fast. As in, very fast.
Montez Sweat (Redskins 1st rounder, Defensive End) had the same 40-yard time in the 2019 Combine (4.41) as Robert Griffin III in 2012

"My emotions were going everywhere," Sweat said. "I was low key feeling some doubt...the Redskins called and they changed my whole persona. They changed how I was feeling."
"What you'll see from me is a relentless football player who continues to work on his craft," he said after the Redskins drafted him.
However, Sweat did slip a bit in the NFL Draft because of a medical issue. At the NFL Combine, tests revealed Sweat might have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which results in thickening of the heart walls, according to
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.
Doctors in Indianapolis measured nearly two centimeters of thickness, but Sweat has met with several experts who said doctors at the combine may have accidentally included capillary muscle in their testing. This would mean "there is no risk for Montez Sweat under this diagnosis," Rapoport said. "This discrepancy would explain why some teams are absolutely fine with it."
"I was going through a lot of visits and they misdiagnosed me with a heart condition," Sweat
told the media. "On my last visit a doctor diagnosed me with the correct measurements."
The last visit was with the Houston Texans.
Redskins head coach
Jay Gruden was confident in Sweat's health.
“We did our due diligence," Gruden
told reporters after Round 1. "We feel confident he is a strong, healthy young man...who is 6’ 6.5” with a very large wing span.”
Sweat told ESPN: “I’m just getting ready to play football. There will probably be the biggest chip on my shoulder there’s ever been.”
Skins are going for it. I like it.

April 26, 2019 Big night for the #Redskins: If Dan & Bruce are right about Dwayne Haskins - they have their QB of the future. Also - get the edge pass rusher by trading back up into 1st, with extra year of control. Montez Sweat can stop the run & play all three downs. Reduces pressure on D.

April 26, 2019 The #Redskins trading back up for Montez Sweat was a phenomenal end to their night. They loved him throughout the process and at points considered him as a true option at 15. Got him 11 picks after that. Replacement for Preston Smith added.

April 26, 2019 Sweat's unbelievable as an athlete. He was playing faster at the #SeniorBowl than some of the DB's.Has speed. Has bend. Has burst. Played against top competition. He's ridiculous.Medical concerns are very real, though.
